Job Search Overview
There are several resources that
can help an expatriate secure a position in France. Online resources
include an ever-increasing number of general employment and
industry-specific websites, whereas more traditional forms of
job-hunting such as government employment agencies, temporary
agencies, recruiting agencies and classified advertisements in
newspapers and trade magazines remain good ways to find available
positions; non-French speakers should focus on Anglophone or native
language-specific resources such as international associations.
Personal contacts are an all-important factor in France and
particularly in the employment world.
Online Job Sites
ANPE.fr
http://www.anpe.fr
ANPE, the National Employment Agency (Agence Nationale Pour
l’Emploi), offers a large range of services to individuals
seeking employment and to companies in all sectors seeking to fill
positions at most hierarchical levels. This website lists more than
130,000 job openings and is updated daily. Résumés/CVs can be posted
on line after a swift registration process. There does not appear to
be an online jobs database - requests for jobs are submitted by
region and type of job, and information on available jobs is sent
through E-mail messages from ANPE.fr.
Apec.fr
http://www.apec.fr/
Featuring a database of approximately 10,000 job offers from more
than a thousand companies, this website offers listings for jobs in
fields as diverse as services, marketing, finance, manufacturing,
information technology, telecommunications, R&D, hospitality and
construction. It also offers a summary of activity for more than 500
major companies and contact information for more than 150,000
companies. Along with direct company listings, this website offers
job listings from 80 major print sources, as well as articles on the
job market, human resources and details of local job fairs. The
