Excerpted from the Hong Kong Career Guide
Supply and demand go hand in hand, and
where there’s great demand, an abundant supply is needed. In addition, in the
case of Hong Kong, the supply of engineers and technical people is
definitely insufficient. There is no doubt according to experts who
study employment trends that Hong Kong currently faces a shortage of
qualified engineers – with the exception of civil engineers, which
have seen a dip in demand in the past few years – and that shortage
is expected to increase. According to a Chinese government labor
study, Hong Kong is expected to face a shortage of more than 100,000
highly educated people to occupy its workforce, particularly in the
fields of engineering and science.
This is just a sample of what you'll
find in the complete Hong Kong guide.
