To say competition is heated for those seeking employment in South Koreas financial sectors would understate the situation. With one of the most highly educated workforces in the world, job seekers in Asia's third largest economy need to be standouts in their chosen professions in order to obtain jobs. Even a certificate of qualification often is not enough to get a foot in the door of some of the country's more popular industry sectors.
The likelihood that job seekers with licensure might not find jobs shows no signs of abating. Approximately 200 people holding a domestic or foreign CPA license recently applied for a recruitment posting at SK Telecom and none gained employment. The Korea Times reported that those holding professional licenses in accounting and law, as well as applicants with US-based MBA degrees, are failing to gain employment due to acute competition for these jobs. For instance, KT Corp. recently recruited only two out of 98 accountants who possess a domestic CPA license and who applied for employment.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete South Korea guide.
