Interviewees should be on time and be dressed appropriately. Men generally wear business suits in the traditional black, blue or gray. Shirts of good quality (plain or striped) should be worn. Shoes are usually black and well polished. Women generally wear either trouser suits or skirts. Women's suits may be more colorful than the men's, but they should not attract attention. Smart-casual dress is usually accepted for a "dot.com" interview. The general advice is that if in doubt; err on the side of formality. It is far better for the candidate to find themselves more formally dressed than their interviewer than the other way around.
The British working culture can be quite formal but it varies across sectors. The British have a history of working in hierarchical bureaucratic organizations but many companies now have flatter management structures. In a business setting, it is important to shake hands before and after the interview. It should be noted that the British like their personal space; it is best to avoid body contact and to maintain a reasonably wide distance during conversation. Emotional displays and gestures are discouraged.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete United Kingdom guide.
